Club House - Gem Faceting

Cost: - $5.00 Club House Usage Fee

Materials: - Please bring your own materials or materials can be purchased from

      the instructor. Materials include both natural or synthetic gem facetting

      materials or glass.

Required Tools: - The Club has the required tools (faceting machine and

      accessories) but you can bring any of your own tools like jewelers loope, dial

      calipers, tweezers, doping wax, alignment tools, and optivisors.

Availability: - By appointment only

Description: - Faceting is the process of taking raw materials nad cutting precise

      plains and angles into that material to form a distinct pattern. A faceting

      machine is use to make these precise "cuts" by grinding material down on a

      horizontal plan. The process can take anywhere from four to five hours on a

      small stone, and will increase in time based on size and complexity of design.
